Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan @ Penang

Yes! Another road trip to Penang, located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia! Besides, we had this road trip in conjunction of our lovely Shin Tyng's wedding too. Congratulations Shin Tyng! Now, we began our journey and we reached Penang in 3 hours time. Not too bad aye*winks* So, what is famous in this lovely town? As far as I know, I have not been to Penang before. So I'm totally like a tourist here. Penang cuisine reflects the Chinese, Nyonya, Malay and Indian ethnic mix of Malaysia. Once people talking about Penang food, you will definitely hear all these like Penang Char Kueh Teow, satay, asam laksa, cendol, prawn noodles, tau sar pneah(bean paste biscuits), rojak and much more. Basically, this typical town is famous with "hawker food". No doubt, although all hawker stalls do not look porsh and clean enough, but the food is awesome! Trust me. I'm quite particular in cleanliness but for these places, you will regret if you do not try on all the food.

We found several places which is famous for their Penang Char Kueh Teow(Fried flat noodles). One of it Is located in Lorong Selamat. Let me briefly describe what is Char Kueh Tiaw. This noodle is stir-fried over high heat with dark and light soya sauce and of course chili together with bean sprout, egg, prawns, cockles and chopped Chinese chives.Although it is a bit pricey for a hawker food, but it's very delicious. The price range depends on what ingredients you would like to have in you fried noodles, and the portion.

Next, we had some desserts! Cendol, ABC, Rojak! Cendol is a traditional dessert originates from South East Asia. The Indonesians believed that the word Cendol was from the word jendol, which means "Bump" or "bulge" which refers to the green worm like jelly found in the dessert. This dessert consists of coconut milk, green jelly which made of rice flour and food coloring, shaved ice and palm sugar/brown sugar. Famous places to have all these yumilicious food are located along Lorong Selamat and Joo Hooi Cafe at Lebuh Keng Kwee.
